![]() If the ones of you who never even played Tekken 4 or Tekken Tag or understand the game engine well enough to see why they are deeper fighting games from a game engine standpoint, how can you say that T4 or TTT "wasn't as good"? Get both those games, don't listen to the haters, judging by some of you who posted here, most of you didn't even bother playing Tekken until Tekken 5. TTT had a better game engine then Tekken 5, TTT required far more skill to play then T5, TTT required far more precise execution then the newbie T5 game engine had ='s Much better game then T5. T4 had better game engine then Tekken 5, T4 required far more skill to play then T5, T4 had the strongest offensive game making you having to develop the strongest defensive game ='s Much better game then T5. "the thing tekken 4 had was a better story and class cutscenes no doubt, and tekken tag had the tag mode which allowed me and my brother to play survival together and up to 4 players can play it, not to mention it had jun in it.Īlthough i reckon tekken 5 is the best i still enjoy playing tekken 4 and tag, its tekken 6 which im worried about Tekken Tag's execution and understanding of the game engine is infinitely more vast then Tekken 5's, it took skills to play Tekken Tag, no if's and's or but's. Jun Kazama is not of one of the strongest characters within Tekken Tag, and Kazuya's "spinning kick" as you'd like to call it, can be easily countered, or lp into punish. ![]() Utilizing wallpush/wallswaps to your advantage, etc, etc.that's why T4 had such a great game engine.Īlso, your statements about how you play Tekken Tag is umm.not even intermediate lvl. ![]() You had to understand T4's game engine to be good, this meant knowing how to do JF's which where tough to do (aside from JFLS), that's why you had to know how to defend against bulldoggers/offensive games, that's why you had to know positioning since your position on a lopsided stage could mean disadvantage to advantage. In Tekken 4, there was none of this, since there was not a huge emphasis upon juggling, you had to work more for damage, that's the reason why their such great emphasis on defense. Just look at that again, T5 emphasizes so much about Launching into juggles, or juggles, juggles + wallsplat. In Tekken 5, Everyone plays the same you know why? Launcher/Crush+Juggle+WallSplat.this is the mentality in Tekken 5, because every player is looking to launch their opponent and send them halfway across the screen to land a wallsplat if they can. Ling is a Tech Catch Killer with things like XMS, Paul Phoenix was a d+1 destroyer up against corners and walls, Nina was a Run A away queen, like Lee was a BullDogging Monster. T4 had a smaller roster, however just look at the character individualities in there and how they played. If you didn't learn how to avoid objects around you which btw, where rare since only certain stages had them, then you've got some problems. So understanding and knowing your surroundings so that you can position yourself to dominate. I haven't seen another Tekken game since Tekken4 to emphasize on defense like in T4.Īnyone who played T4 at the higher lvls, learned to utilized objects, unevened floors to their advantage. This basically required you having to build a defensive game.wow, for once a Tekken game that emphasized on defense. Unlike Tekken 5, where you can randomly crush someone, juggle them and then wall splat them.yeah, that's almost a great game engine in the works? Mind telling me how + framed attacks that should give you the advantage get crushed out? Tekken 4's juggling system was watered down so that you couldn't depend upon "juggling your opponent to oblivion". while tekken tag favored those characters who were more powerful i remember doing a 7 hit combo with jun and then all kazuya will need to do is his spinning kick and beat it." - kingdeebo "tekken 4 is too slow and juggling was awful, tekken 4 had 19 characters far from satisfactory and big objects in the way of your fighting. You got guys Top Korean players like MDJ talking about how scrubby Tekken 5 is.and he's Not the only Top Player who's saying this. ![]() Talk to the top players of Tekken, the players who actually took the time to played T4 talked about how deep of a fighting game T4 was even though it had a balance issue. "but that isnt fair mate its like saying that MKA is better then all the fighting games coz its hard to play and master" - kingdeebo
